Tony Yakovenko

My work explores the quiet intersections of light, memory, and emotion. I am drawn to moments of calm, found in nature, urban spaces, or personal recollection, and seek to capture their subtle beauty on canvas. Landscapes have long been central to my practice, rooted in a lifelong admiration for the natural world. More recently, I have turned toward urban scenes, observing how light interacts with architecture to evoke stillness within the built environment.

My process blends direct observation with lived experience. I paint both en plein air and from my own photographs, developing compositions that feel grounded yet expressive. Working primarily in acrylic, I experiment with color, layering, and texture to create depth and atmosphere, translating reflection and feeling into visual form.
