Welcome — I’m Susan Smith, a Manitoba-based artisan and the creator behind Y Knot Diamonds.

I work with locally sourced diamond willow, crafting one-of-a-kind wood pieces that highlight the natural markings, textures, and story within each branch. My work is inspired by the forests of the Prairies, the rhythm of the seasons, and a deep respect for the land that provides the materials I use. Every piece I make is guided by the wood itself. Rather than forcing it into a uniform design, I let its natural shape lead the process.

Sustainability and local sourcing are at the heart of what I do, because supporting the environment and my community matters just as much as creating something beautiful. Before focusing more fully on my art, I built and ran a guest ranch and then a cleaning business, which taught me the value of hard work, independence, and dedication. Today, I bring that same commitment into my creative practice as I continue to grow Y Knot Diamonds and expand into new opportunities rooted in purpose and connection.
