I love to paint semi-representational contemporary oil/acrylic landscapes and Asian inspired floral watercolours. By adopting bold choices in colour, contrast and light –I hope to bring my vision to life. 

My intent is to tell a story, create an experience or  evoke an emotional response by a feeling or mood rather than competing with a camera for accuracy.

​Along with some bold colour choices, I will often incorporate linework details inspired by the brushstrokes and techniques of Chinese/Japanese art.   Being inspired by other artists is always part of the process.  In keeping with wanting to try everything I see- I have ventured into experimenting with Mixed Media, Collage and Digital.   I am having so much fun!!

Side note:  Why do I go by C. Foster instead of Chris?  There are currently artists by the name of Chris Foster in Halifax, Toronto, Portland, UK, Iceland and Northern California... and those are just the ones I've bumped up against in the social media confusion.  The Winnipeg one - me!! - is attempting to differenciate myself from the herd! ​
