Welcome to my page!
My home studio is one of two favorite places to paint, experiment, and let new ideas unfold. While I spend part of the year painting in my little SheShed at Lake of the Woods, the space in Winnipeg is where many of those ideas come to life on canvas. I have over 25 new paintings to share in my current show selection.
My work often begins with photographs and small sketches from places I’ve experienced — a street discovered while traveling, a quiet shoreline, or a garden that caught my eye. From there, the painting takes on a life of its own as layers of colour, texture, and line slowly develop.
I’m less interested in painting a place exactly as it looked and more interested in capturing the feeling of being there and the story it may tell. I have recently explored a softer generation of paintings. The majority of these have been painted on hand-stretched raw canvas, that has been sealed. I love the look of the raw canvas - and I hope you might enjoy this new series as well.
Opening my home during the studio tour is something I truly enjoy. It’s a chance to share the narrative behind the work, talk about the creative process, and connect with people who love art.
If you’re visiting during the tour, welcome — and if you happen to miss it, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I’m always happy to share my love of art.
